Geocache Description:

Welcome to The Pines, Lake Hume

A very popular reserve on the edge of Lake Hume, maybe the most popular for boaters during the warmer months of the year.

This area was once much like a pine forest, with the plantings of the pine trees dating back to the 50's. Unfortunatey what pines are left are looking like they are very near the end of their life span. Only a few pine trees remain compared to what there used to be, most have succumbed to some harsh windstorms over the last few years, some removed for safety reasons.

The main entrance are has the boat ramp, toilets, picnic tables and electric bbqs (free to operate). The cache is set further around the reserve, hopefully away from the crowds for longevity. It would be a park and grab for those wanting to drive along the small tracks (4x4 well recommended), or take a stroll along the lake edge to make the find, enjoying the quiet of the area, or roaring of boat engines in the summer months.

USE THE OFFICIAL ACCESS POINT INTO THE RESERVE AT THE BOAT RAMP, DO NOT PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR USE ANY TRACK THAT RUNS OF THE MAIN ROAD TO GET TO THE CACHE.
