Time to pull out the canoe for some Nonquon Swamp caching.
During the 1960's the Ministry of Natural Resources began acquiring land in the Nonquon Wetland as part of a provincial policy to protect the dwindling Class 1 Wetland habitat. Eventually, it established the Nonquon Provincial Wildlife Area. It comprises approximately 1300 ha of land surrounding the Nonquon River, with a wide variety of wetland, field, and forest communities. It is a multi-use area permitting such activities as fishing, snowmobiling, education, hiking, trapping, canoeing, hunting, orienteering, and scientific research. They forgot to mention that it is also a great place for geocaching.
