Baby Beech. (With apologies to Robert Southey).
Once upon a time there was a little girl named Goldilocks.
She went for a walk in the Tararua Forest Park at the end of Mt Holdsworth Rd, (WP1).
In this forest there were three beech trees – Mama Beech, Papa Beech and Baby Beech.
Goldilocks soon came upon a junction on the Atiwhakatu track.
She turned left at the sign-post (WP2) and headed up the Gentle Annie track past Mountain House shelter.
Goldilocks became very tired so she stopped when she came to a smallish beech tree.
She lay down on the track beside the beech tree and it was just right.
Goldilocks fell asleep.
As she was sleeping, the beeches rustled in the breeze.
When Baby Beech looked around, she growled:
“Someone's been sleeping on my track and she's still here”.
Just then, Goldilocks woke up and saw Baby Beech.
She screamed “Help!” but no-one heard.
She jumped to her feet and ran down the track, turned left at the bottom and ran further into the forest park.
And she never returned to the home of Baby Beech.
Being a muggle, poor Goldilocks didn't realise she had been sleeping right beside hidden treasure – a small plastic yeast jar with an orange lid containing a log sheet and a card with 3 of the 9 'codes' that will help you find "Where's Goldilocks", (GC4A1M4). Mama beech and Papa beech caches hold the secret to the other 6 'codes'.
Please bring your own pen, (to log your find and note the 'codes').
No worries about Goldilocks returning, but be aware of other muggles appearing from above or below you on this busy track, and please re-hide the cache securely back in its hidey hole out of sight.
