The Bear Necessities 2 Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
A small cache near the Black Bear Park. This is the second cache in a series of four in the park.
Black Bear Canal, now infilled, once ran from docks on the Manchester Ship Canal near Wilderspool Causeway (to the west of Latchford) to the Mersey at Manor Lock in Howley, providing a shortcut for shipping, avoiding a large river bend and weir. The Black Bear Canal remained in use for the transport of South American hides to tanneries, until the 1960s, when it fell into disuse.
In 1981, the land was converted into parkland by the council.
You are looking for a 35mm film canister in the vicinity of this park. No need to disturb any sleeping pigeons.
Please note that this is only a terrain 1.5 cache, and there is a "no climbing" attribute!
