Geocache Description:

This cache is named for Rachel Carson, whose book, "Silent Spring," talked about pesticides and their threat to bird life. She is widely credited with inspiring the environmental movement.  Cachers who bring a camera, binoculars, and a field Guide may be well-rewarded.

This location is one of the premier bird watching locations in the Southeast. When putting out the cache we spotted, among others, Canada geese, cormorants, a fledgling blue heron, purple martins, barn swallows, an egret, and ducklings, learning to swim. Although fenced all the way around, the area is open to the public, and should be accessed through the automatic gate. Check the sign at the entrance for the closing time on the day you are there. While driving in the area keep your vehicle on the road. DO NOT drive off the road to get closer to the cache. The cache is located inside the fence. This cache was placed with the permission of the Clayton County Water Authority. CONGRATULATIONS TO KMASON17 FOR THE FIRST TO FIND!!
