Ranger Rick decided to check out Trail of Tears State Park. There are eight caches throughout the park. You might have to take a short hike to find one or two. Be aware of the usual outdoor hazards - poison ivy and ticks. Bring snacks and water and enjoy a day of caching! The caches were planted with permission by Missouri State Parks.
The tragic history that gives Trail of Tears State Park its name provides a sharp contrast to the peaceful yet rugged beauty of the landscape. It is one of 87 state parks and historic sites in Missouri and is a certified site on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail. The 3,415-acre park is a memorial to the Cherokee Indians that lost their lives in a forced relocation, as well as a place for visitors to participage in a variety of outdoor adventures. Eight caches are scattered throughout the park. Some caches will require a short hike. Bring a picnic lunch for an entire day of caching or plan a camping trip to top the day off with s'mores!
