Geocache Description:

This is a box big enough to hold a few goodies, with its own place in history. An easy find.

Braidwood has always been about energy; from the coal that was pulled out its very productive mines before the turn of the 20th century to the atomic power produced by the neighboring nuclear generating station. While the community is working on rejuvenating its downtown business district, it has also embraced its past. Its original train depot was moved to city property, renovated and turned into a historical museum operated by the Braidwood Area Historical Society. This is one of a series of Route 66 caches. We encourage you to visit another town in the Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor, from Joliet to Towanda.
