Bill Compton is a vampire who moves to Sookie's town, Bon Temps, at the start of the series. He's a Civil War veteran and Bon Temps native from the nineteenth century (turned in 1865 by Lorena Krasiki). Trying desperately to "main stream" in society and coexist with humans peacefully. He's good and decent, most of the time, and doesn't view humans the same as most other vampires, although he does have his dark side....
