You are searching for a magnetic key holder.
In 2013, 6wiggies and I will have been married for 15 years. 6wiggies suggested hiding a series of 15 caches in places significant to our relationship, and I thought that was a great idea. This is the first hide of the series.
In October of 1993, 6wiggies and I went out for the first time. We had met each other at church and sang in the choir together. She was a junior at Brookwood High School at the time and I was a sophomore at the University of Alabama. The first place we went on our date that night was to a relatively new restaurant that soon became a favorite. The buffalo wings joint near ground zero now occupies the spot, but at the time the restaurant was a casual fine dining establishment called Harvey’s. After dining at Harvey’s we went to Brookwood’s homecoming football game, but skipped the dance afterward to go bowling at Leland Lanes. We both enjoyed that first date, and saw each other again two or three times within the week. By the end of two weeks dating I told her that I wanted to marry her and spend the rest of our lives together. She thought I was crazy.
As we continued dating, Harvey's became our favorite place to eat out. Several years later, I took 6wiggies back to Harvey’s, where I dropped to one knee and asked her to marry me. We tied the knot in May of 1998. Not too long afterward, we were dining at Harvey’s after church with some family members, and we noticed that the waitress seemed upset. We asked what was wrong, and in tears she told us that the restaurant owner had decided not to renew his lease, and that that day was Harvey’s final one in Tuscaloosa. So, although our favorite place was closing, we were grateful that we had one last chance to say goodbye.
Fortunately for 6wiggies, our four children, and me, our marriage has far outlasted Harvey’s. But we still have fond memories of the place where we had our first date, where I proposed, and where we got to enjoy one final meal before it closed for good.
Difficulty is elevated to 2.5 on this cache due to high levels of muggle activity and traffic. Stealth is required!
