A small series of caches located along the course of the beautiful River Ythan as it meanders through rural Aberdeenshire from the Wells of Ythan to the estuary at Newburgh where the river meets the North Sea.
Just downstream of its most northerly point, the Ythan flows past Towie Barclay Castle, an attractive structure dating from the 16th century with significant skilled restoration carried out in the 1970's. The narrow river then passes beneath the A947 Aberdeen-Banff road before swinging back southwards on its way towards Fyvie.
The cache is located at the road bridge across the river.
