Geocache Description:

This series is intended to show some of the more unusual wildlife to be found around Dalry, and takes in some beautiful countryside walks. In summer the hedgerows should be teeming with wildlife, not all of it made up! The whole series covers approximately 5km, and should take about 2 to 3 hours to complete (depending on your hunting skills!) in one go, which is the most enjoyable way to complete this walk. It isn't too strenuous but do please take care.

All the paths cover walks recommended and advertised by North Ayrshire Council, and all of the land, regardless of any signs you may see to the contrary, can be accessed by all walkers. Sturdy footwear is recommended, especially if it's been raining. Please take care to return the wildlife to it's correct habitat, and be gentle when handling. If you see the cache animal residing in any of the caches, please do not disturb their slumber. The containers are of varying types to mix things up a little! Happy hunting! Disclaimer - anything you read in the descriptions regarding wildlife could be entirely truthful, slightly fanciful or just plain made up! The best place to park for this series is at the listed co-ords. Alternatively, you can park in the town centre. To get to the trailhead, walk up to the main road from the park, cross the road and walk up Templand road. turn left onto Bleeze Road, carry on past the flats on your left, and follow the path to the right.Starting from the trailhead, continue along the path until you see the cemetery on your left. The first cache is located here. The Dalry Caterpillar is the most amazing caterpillar you will ever see. Unfortunately it's larvae is the dullest ever, and it's the larva you're looking for, burrowed into a stick on a tree. Congratulations to Amazo and Finlay and his Drudge for joint FTF on the whole series!
