Zintel Dam
(The New)
The Zintel Canyon Dam was built in 1992 to provide flood protection for the city of Kennewick. The concrete dam is 90 feet high and 520 feet long. The dam’s construction included the installation of a 78” diameter buried pipe running 4,165 feet underground from the dam to the Columbia River. Built to provide protection for up to a 100-year flood event, the dam has not yet retained any water from the 19-square mile watershed to the south of the dam since it was built.
Nearby parking is limited.
When looking for this cache in the summer months, please be careful and watch for rattlesnakes.
