This geocache is located just off the trail near the Lewisporte Bird Sanctuary.
The trail leads to a point at the marine estuary, located at the base of Lewisporte Harbor. The basin is shallow, and has been designated a sanctuary due to the many species of birds resting and feeding there. Bring a camera and some bread crumbs, as Herring gulls are always available and easily photographed. You may also see ducks, loons, osprey, and, if you are lucky, one of the Bald eagles that nest nearby.
The trail can be muddy early in the season, but is generally an easy walk.
The cache is a medium quad lock container, 8"x5", painted camo. When placed, it contained a log, pencil, and a bunch of swag.
The cache is labeled as a little more difficult only because tree cover is heavy, giving a poor signal at times. Trust the GPS when it is open above you. This cache contains a Garmin Chirp beacon
