Geocache Description:

This is a very short an easy cache, located on Quabbin Hill, in Quabbin Park, on the southern end of the Quabbin Reservoir.

Permission granted to put this cache-site here. Quabbin Park is generally open 7:00am to 7:00pm for Summer hours and 7:00am to 5:30pm for Winter hours. The Summit Tower is usually open from Easter through Thanksgiving.

Sorry pet owners but no dogs or other animals allowed. This is also a cold lunch park-no fires of any kind. PLEASE READ and obey all signs. Being a watershed area rules are strickly enforced. The park is patroled by the State Police, MDC rangers, and the National Guard.

You are first urged to visit the Administration Building Visitors Center, located in the Belchertown entrance off RT-9. Here they have a small museum: exhibits, history, maps, fishing, hiking and other literature available. The main park can be accessed by either entrance off RT-9 in Ware. I suggest enter in one, exit out the other. Drive in and stop to read the welcome signs ahead. Enjoy the sites as you make your way to the summit parking lot. Walk up to the big stone tower. The trail-head begins in the S.S.E. corner of the surrounding tower lawn. The trail heads out heading S.E. under the power line and doesn't seem right to you. But trust me, this is the way to go. It will curve into the woods by the big lonely oak tree you can see out a ways. DO NOT BUSHWHACK HERE through the blueberry bushes-it is not allowed. You will only cause curiosity and bring attention to yourself by the many sightseers and park officials who come here. AGAIN-Please take this well beaten path through the shrubs to the woods. Once you reach the woods, stay on the trail for about 50 paces and then go for it.
