First cache on this walk around Dob Park.
There are 12 caches
All the caches are on public rights of way. None are over fences or in walls.
Please note that although we did the walk twice, using 2 GPs, we have had to average the co-ordinates at some locations.
From the car parking.... N53 56.317 W001 42.237... walk downhill along the road.
Another of our favourite walks in the Washburn/Lower Wharefedale area, using little known footpaths
Although the walk can be done in either direction it is pleasanter done anti-clockwise to avoid the long slog back up Dob Park Road.,
Dob Park is in the Royal Forest of Knaresborough, a former Medieval hunting park of John O'Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster and the remains of the 17th Century Dob Park Lodge, scheduled as an Ancient Monument and Grade 2 listed, are a prominent feature of the walk.
The River Washburn with it's reservoirs Fewston, Swinsty and Lindley Wood, runs along the valley bottom.
The walk is about 5 miles and includes some steep hills. Strong footwear is necessary. The may be mud after wet weather.
Typical of the area are stunning long distance views along the way.
Congratulations to Smurf on your FTF.
