Geocache Description:

Location: Kaiapoi Community Centre, 26 Sewell St, Kaiapoi. Parking is available.

Time: 9am to 4pm.

Bring: 1. Gold coin ($2) donation towards costs, please.
            2. Your laptop with GSAK preloaded from this GSAK website link for a hands-on session at the end of the day. There are limited power sockets, so remember to bring a multiplug box and an extension lead.
            3. Food/drink  for morning & afternoon teas and lunch. There is a bakery and a Subway outlet close by. The Community Centre has a kitchen with hot water available.

GSAK is the all-in-one Geocaching and waypoint management tool. Major features include: multiple databases, sending/receiving waypoints to/from GPSr, Google maps, conversion to many mapping formats, PDA output (including CacheMate support), HTML output, extensive searching, macro support, backup and restore, and much more. GSAK only runs on Windows operating systems (2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8).

There will be three presentations based loosely on those given at the Dunedin MEGA Event in October 2012 and at a recent Auckland event.

There will be something for the beginners as well as the cachers who have used GSAK a bit but want to pick up on a possible new feature or brush-up or refine what they do now or even to share something they do. (There are many ways to "skin a cat" so to speak.)

The sessions will be broken up as follows:-

1. Basics – What GSAK is, cost, updates, install, display, load caches (PQs), introduction to filtering, downloading to GPSr.

2. Intermediate – Filtering (searching), waypoint management, database management, options, macros (using not writing).

3. Advanced – Covering features now obtainable through direct access to the Geocaching.com servers (requires GSAK Version 8).
