What a great name for a park. I have had the chance to work with turtles in our area. I even had the opportunity to help design a turtle themed geocoin.
Did you know snapping turtles are at risk/special concern in Ontario? There are more species of turtles around that are At Risk, like the Blanding’s turtle. I’ve found two yellow throated Blanding’s turtle while out geocaching, and reported the sighting to http://nhic.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/nhic/species/species_report.cfm. There hasn’t even been recent sightings of Blanding’s Turtle in the most Eastern part of Ontario:
The geocache is a micro in a small tree at the back of Turtle Park. I was going to choose a different tree, but there was an empty nest. That tree might already be claimed this year!
