Alfred Nicholas was a coinventor of Aspro. From this he derived great wealth and purchased a lot of land around this area. Just down the road you have the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens. Burnam Beeches which is behind the big gates was a rural retreat and later became a research base for Nicholas Institute for medical and veterinary research.
It has now been sold out of the family and for a while it was a guest house. It was closed for an upgrade over 10 years ago and was recently purchased by new owners.
