Balanced Rock is a 40-ton, 48-foot rock delicately balanced on a
three-foot base above Salmon Falls Creek Canyon. It is a natural
wonder that is constantly changing with the ever-active forces of
erosion.
After finding the cache, spend some time exploring the rock area
and then go to the picnic area about ¼ mile from Balanced Rock,
have some lunch and then explore some more. It really is a
beautiful area out in the middle of nowhere.
The location of the cache is within .2 miles of the turnout in
front of Balanced Rock. In the spring and early summer months watch
out for snakes! The cache is hidden under some rocks to conceal it
from somebody stumbling upon it. Make sure to cover it up when
done. The cache is in a black ammo can with the word geocache
stenciled on each side in green. Be safe and have fun!
