This location is close to where the Emporia Ice Plant used to be located. I remember visiting the Ice House with Mom to get chunks of ice for the Ice Box, also had a meat locker in the same location we would come to get from the locker. You would tell them what you needed and it was brought to you, from your locker. What a fantastic thrill it was for me to visit this business with Mom, all the large dark spaces and strange looking workers. The trains would stop here and fill the box cars with ice to keep product cold during shipment.
The Ice House burned to the ground in 1973.
