Welcome to North Little Rock, you are looking for a 35 mm size container.
Paving began this week in North Little Rock on the Levy Spur Trail, a new bike/pedestrian recreational trail which starts in Levy under the 1-40 Overpass and runs along the old railroad track line to Camp Robinson up to 52nd St. The spur property was established to support World War I Camp Pike. According to Robert Voyles, City Planning Director, “It was last used about 16 years ago. The City obtained the property using our Local Urbanized Attributed funds with a generous contribution from the Union Pacific Rail Road.” For the last several years, city leaders in North Little Rock have had their eyes on the Camp Robinson rail spur, a now-abandoned rail line that runs a little over 3 miles from Pike Avenue beneath I-40 in Levy to the point where it crosses Remount Road before entering Camp. The notion acquiring the spur was first brought to my attention by Alderman Debi Ross, and its potential as a rail-to-trail project has been frequently discussed by Mayor Hays and the NLR Bike Friendly Committee. Now, it appears that the project will become a reality. The Camp Robinson spur once served Camp Robinson (home of the 39th Infantry Division of the National Guard) in North Little Rock, AR. While the installation is still in operation, the spur last saw use during the first Gulf War in 1991. Today, the line has fallen to disrepair as UP has not maintained the line since the mid 1990s -- a washout has rendered part of the tracks unusable, downed trees from severe weather block other parts of the track, and even the switch off of UP's Van Buren Subdivision in Levy (LEEvee) has been removed.
