Geocache Description:

These woods here along the Skyline Trail look like perfect hunting grounds for the saber tooth tiger. They are most known for having maxillary canines which were, in some species, up to 50 cm (19.7 inches) long and extended down from the mouth even when the mouth was closed. Sabre-toothed cats were generally more robust than today's cats and were quite bear-like in build. They were believed to be excellent hunters and hunted animals such as sloths, mammoths, and other large prey.

Cache is small in size and close to the main trail. The Ice Age trail that meanders through here is close by as well. Should be accessible during all of our varied seasons.

Daily or yearly park sticker required. Park hours are 6am-11pm. During cross-country ski season, please keep off the groomed trails. There is hunting allowed in parts of the park during the 9-day deer season at the end of November and a few days in the spring during turkey hunting. Just be aware of your surroundings.

Have fun!
