A series based on some of the hilltops in my hometown of Wilmington. It’s a hilly town - you’ll see! Be careful in winter (snow & ice!) and mud season (mud!). The other 2 months of the year, just watch for black flies.
Again - Be aware of the seasons, especially up here!
Chimney Hill is a development that sprang up when the Mt Snow and Haystack ski industry began in the 1960’s. And it just keeps growing - on a hillside that was never meant to be a housing development. DO watch the waypoints so you can find your way back out!
Park at the TH for Haystack Trail - they put up a new TH sign in July 2014. The cache is not far up the trail. If you’re observant, you will see signs of geocachers past, as they went in search of the caches further up the trail on Haystack Mt.
To get there:
From Rt 9, take Haystack Rd 1.2 mi, go left onto Chimney Hill Rd, take 1st right onto Binney Brook Rd. Follow that twisty, turny, winding, uphill for .8 mi to Upper Dam Rd, then take that right for the last short section to the Haystack Trail Head.
Leaving a hint now that the FTF is out of the way.
