A dog-themed cache dedicated to our rescued dog, Moose (aka Jack.) This is a companion cache to 'Jack is the Mack Daddy' (GC49WK6).
You can read the companion cache for more details, but I'll give my side of things...
We have rescued five dogs in five years living in Baurle Ranch. The previous four all found their original owners, but not with Jack...er, Moose. See, Moose is a Blackmouth Cur and quite a large dog. I wanted Moose to stay outside while we put up signs, posted on the internet, etc. looking for his owners. Next thing I know I see a large brown blur bounding through the house. I joked with my wife, "What was that?!?! I think I just saw a moose in the house!" And the name stuck...at least with me. I thought he was going to knock everything down with his huge wagging tail, but no. Moose is no 'bull in a china shop.'
Moose is a fantastic dog and I can't believe we've been blessed with him. I feel sad for the circumstances that would have caused his previous owners to abandon him, but we're his people now. Last Halloween we dressed Moose up like Scooby Doo and the kids LOVED it! (We've included pictures in the cache...) He's a very patient dog and somewhat shy around new people or large groups, but once he gets settled in, he chills out. We've also found he can be quite the guard dog when needed! He doesn't bark at all...except when he sees or hears something unusual. Sometimes it catches us off guard, but we realize he just wants to protect those important to him and that makes us feel special...
All this from a rescued dog! If you are considering gets a dog (or cat) please go look down at the pound or at those events they have outside pet stores. There are so many great dogs looking for a home. They just want some people to love and people to love them back...nothing complicated. It's that simple. We wouldn't trade Moose for anything! We love you!!!
This cache is initially stocked with dog toys. I've included some double-sided pictures of Moose. (He's such a ham!) Please leave these in the logbook for others to enjoy.
