mgbmusic: I did indeed mean to archive this instead of logging as a find. Doh! Thanks to everyone who hunted!

Geocache Description:

"FTF...more later" is a long standing tradition that I started long ago. When I manage to nab myself a FTF, I make it a habit to post a note on the cache page from Ground Zero that reads "FTF...more later" or some such. Other cachers in the area have adopted the same habit. I smile a little inside when I see a note like that.

You see, it's a courtesy thing. Many FTF "hounds" will drop everything and scamper out the door in the hopes of getting a FTF. By posting a note on the cache page, you are letting others know - if you're in the middle of something, and debating running out the door, it can wait. Or, if you're en route and you're going to be late for something, go ahead and go wherever you need.

Others famously will do quite the opposite. Some refuse to let anyone know they have gained the prize, allowing cachers to upend their schedules sometimes hours later only to find that it was no longer available. They use excuses such as "you're risking being beaten" and "I don't have a smartphone" or "I don't have the time", and sometimes it's understandable. Still others will intentionally withhold a FTF log until after it has been found and logged by another player - sometimes even days or weeks later. The psychology behind this behavior is...well, probably best left to professionals.

Why am I rambling? It's kinda what I do.

Anyway, this cache is a tribute to those who hold their fellow cachers in high regard and let basic courtesy override any malicious competitive spirit. To that end, I am opening up the FTF field to anyone, ANYONE, who posts a note from GZsaying "FTF...more later" or some other variant. A little courtesy goes a long way with me, so if you're going after the elusive first FTF, or that ho-hum 392nd FTF , this one's yours.

Of course, this is entirely optional. Of course I have no way to prove whether or not you actually posted that note from the field. But FTF's are, in Groundspeak's eyes anyway, how shall we say...dubious at best?

So there is no ALR, you don't have to do anything but find, sign, and log online. If you don't want a "cheap" or "cheating" FTF, you don't have to. It's just a bookmark list people. But if you want to claim it, by all means, follow the guidelines and do so.

If you are part of a group, each member wishing to claim FTF must post a note.

If you are the first person to find this cache and sign the log, and you don't post a note, well sorry. No FTF for you, unless you want to add it to your bookmark list anyway. Not much I can do about that.

Hope this has served as a public service. It's just common courtesy people. Post a note. It doesn't take much. Don't have a smartphone? No problem - wap.geocaching.com. That's a text-only geocaching site that allows you to look up caches and log finds or....post notes. How about that?
