Geocache Description:

The National Museum of Natural History recently launched a geotour in the Washington DC area. This event is an extension of the tour, with museum research scientists meeting with local geocachers.

Dr. William DiMichele and Dan Chaney of the Department of Paleobiology have been conducting research, in conjunction with the New Mexico Museum of Natural History, on fossil plants from the Pennsylvanian through the Permian or between 325 - 250 million years ago.

Join them east of Socorro for a mini field trip to learn about the research they have been conducting in New Mexico.

When: 1:00pm-4:00pm
Where: At the posted coordinates

There will be some short hikes to view geologic features of interest.

The event will end at Socorro Springs where Suz55tbird is hosting the After the Doctor is Out event.

Thanks to Suz55tbird for assisting with arrangements and hosting this event.
