Into the Abyss Multi-Cache

You put down the headphones, walk out onto the bridge of Mermaid Sapphire and look over towards the clear horizon. You are part of a survey team mapping out the Mariana Islands just to the west of the trench when the All Ships emergency call came in.

Immediately the ship responded to the call, turned east and steamed at full speed to the last known coordinates of Qantus Airways flight QF21 en route to Tokyo.

What could have brought down a Boeing 747-400 in perfect weather?

Fortunately the Mermaid Sapphire with her submersible - The Deepsea Challenger  - just happened to be in the area.

The ship begins to slow and you know that you will not have to wait long for the answer. As pilot of the Deepsea Challenger, you will be taking the sub down to the depths of the trench to search for any wreckage.

Half an hour later the hatch is locked shut, the electric motors whirr into life and you descend into the murky depths below.

Two hours pass and the depth gauge clicks over to 10,000 metres. With relief you realise that you are almost at the bottom.

Suddenly you notice what appear to be blue lights dancing just out of reach of the sub's robotic arms. Next thing there a shudder followed by a loud thump and then an eerie silence. Your motors have stopped. "What the ..?"

There is something else down here and it is not from this world!

It is time to face your fears......

It is time to go into the Abyss.

Your mission: Find out what attacked you, log the find and return to the surface.
