Geocache Description:

FTF honors go to ricson917
This cache is what heroes are capable of.

Heroes come in many forms and for many different reasons. We think of heroes as those who save our lives or rescue us from danger. For the purpose of this cache a legacy was created by Capt Matthew Freeman called the Matthew Freeman Project. This cache has everything to do with both heroes and education in combat ridden countries such as Afghanistan.

The Matthew Freeman Project: Pens and Paper for Peace was born with the help of BSA Troop 400.  This project is one of many things that heroes have done in war torn countries that did not involve harm to anyone but a possible peaceful resolution to an otherwise combat environment these children have grown up and live in. That is what a hero is all about. The owner of the property where the final cache is located has given permission for the placement of this Geocache. Have fun.

Start Point: At this location Matthew Freeman pursued his Eagle Scout by completing his project to repair this gazebo. You are going to have to find some things out about this structure, Matthew Freeman, and the Matthew Freeman Project to get to the next stage.

A= Number of steps.

B= Number of Tennis Championships won by Matt plus which generation of his family he was to fly in the military now add the number of Matt's sisters who, along with Matt were honored by the founding of Matthew Freeman Scholarship.

C= The middle number of the three digit number of the road out front.

D= What Academy did Matt attend? (1) US Military Academy, (3) US Air Force Academy, (5) US Marine Academy, (7) US Naval Academy, (9) Montessori Academy, or (11) Ford Academy.

E= Number of sides to structure.

F= Number of entrances/exits

G= In the year 200_ Matt and his childhood sweetheart got married. What is the missing number?

H= What is the first digit of the name of the road out front?

Stage 1: This structure's lighting was done as an Eagle Scout Project. Take the troop number of the Eagle Scout that did this project and subtract 171 which will be the directional heading you will need. Standing in the middle of this structure and proceed on that heading 150 meters.

Stage 2: Find Matt and tell me the first name of the person to his right.  Take the letters and turn them into numbers (such as A=1, B=2, etc.) and add them up.    With this same person to Matt's right find out the year this person's branch of service was founded and take the two digit year, subtract 14 from that and call both digits C and D.    The two digit day this same branch was founded, add 15 to that number, and make the two digits E and F. Take the month this same person's branch of service was founded and subtract 6 to get B.  Add D, E, and F then subtract 1 from that to get G.  Add the one back to that to get H. To get A find the number you have seen the most of in this calculation of Stage 2 and make it A.
