Bland Mountain Fire LOT history:
1944: "There should be a new lookout house and tower built on Bland Mtn. We have used this point as a lookout for the past three years. The man has been living in a tent during this time. This should be a standard 14 x 14 foot house built on a thirty foot tower. A lookout on this mountain covers an area that has always been bad for incendiary fire and by giving it better lookout service should reduce the cost of firefighting. Cost about $2200.00." (Douglas FPA - Oregon Department of Forestry Annual Report - 1944)
1947: A 14 x 14 lookout cab was constructed atop a 20-foot timber tower. Construction costs were $674.33. (Douglas FPA - Oregon Department of Forestry Annual Report - 1947)
1967: The catwalk and roof were rep[laced. (Douglas FPA - Oregon Department of Forestry Annual Report - 1967)
1997: A new lookout was erected using the recycled water tower from the Canyonville State Forestry Office. This tower stands 20 feet 4 inches with a 14x14 Amort style flat roof cab.
