Geocache Description:

This geocache was placed with permission from Pastor Aaron Hines. This is only available during the day. DO NOT REMOVE THE NAME PLAQUE OR THE WOODEN "OHIO" from the geocache.

Welcome to the old grounds of Salem White Church and Cemetary. Be respectful of the area. The church was organized in 1812. With that being said this cemetary is very old and has stones dating back from various wars throughout the years. Here is a data website for the cemetary: http://ohiogravestones.org/cemetery.php?cemID=2238. The interesting thing is there is a family of masons also buried here. The church grew throughout the years, changed names, and even changed denominations. The church is now Church Triumphant. Not only is the church part of history but even the geocache container has history. In April of 2011 a tornado ripped apart Tuscaloosa, Alabama. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Tuscaloosa_%E2%80%93_Birmingham_tornado. The church sent a team that week to help with cleanup which my wife and I went on. We found a guy, Dr Nelson A Lloyd, needing help cleaning up and removing trees from his yard. We actually found out this same man grew up and lived a long time in Chillicothe, OH. That was crazy to randomly meet a guy so close to home. Our team decided to help and do what we could. It was such a life changing event going in first hand to a natural disaster area where bodies daily were still being found. Our team helped in Tuscaloosa throughout Holt county. This box Im using as the geo container came from his destroyed garage. This box held much of his map collection because he would always get a map everytime he passed a state, even if he had been there before. Nelson Lloyd was a man that had his hand into everything, he was a boy scout master, he traveled for his daily job, and he even did carpentry work in his garage. In the container you will find just one of his works. He had a different item he made from hand for every state. DO NOT REMOVE HIS NAME PLAQUE OR THE WOODEN "OHIO". You will also find in the geocache: a few trackable items, couple toys for kids, baseball from geocache GC2V04D, and maps. Feel free to take maps if you want, I have plenty more left of the collection here at home to refill. Happy Caching!
