Originally a cache you would have been able to get your teeth into. **NB: the cache is maintained by the Anglican priest in charge here, Kay, and her husband, Alan, so feel free to mention their names if approached by parishioners!
St Cecilia is regarded as the patron saint of music and St Cecilia's Anglican Church in Chinchilla features a lyre sculpture behind the altar in recognition. The parish dates from 1851 but the current building had its Foundation stone laid in 1959. The distinctive stained-glass crosses along both long walls create an almost mesmerising effect inside, in sunny conditions.
This cache was placed during a visit by nine members of the Anglican church in Brisbane to Chinchilla and Roma in April 2013. The purpose of the visit was to listen to how residents of these towns were perceiving change in their communities, and many issues were raised by the locals, including coal seam gas, housing affordability and opportunities for youth.
This appears to be one of Chinchilla's first caches, but hopefully there will be many more to follow. Please be gentle with it!
