Geocache Description:

Marathon’s dam was constructed from 1926 until 1929 by the US Company ULEN, while in 1931 started the water supply of Athens. The dam is made of concrete and is fully lined with Pentelic marble, giving to it a unique characteristic in worldwide level. The lake collects water from streams Varnava and Charadros. Charadros stems from Parnitha at the area of Mola (see also cache GC25Z81). The area around the lake is full of pine trees and is offered for a walk or cycling. After the 2009 fire, the landscape has changed to worst but some areas, thankfully, escaped the disastrous fire. While you are doing your favorite outdoor activity please respect the environment.

The cache is a small plastic box with a logbook, a geocache declaration, a pencil and few items to trade, in a place not too far from the road, with a panoramic view of the dam.
Enjoy!
