Geocache Description:

The Cache BYOP.

The cache is placed near the ruin of St. Catherine's Church and is on the railing of the gatehouse.

The floodplain has been enclosed with a stock-proof fence and highland cattle and rams have been put there to graze.

In 1220 the land was the property of Waryn de Peche, Lord of Lucan, who founded the monastery of St. Catherine, near Leixlip. In the reign of Richard II. The Priory fell into such poverty early in the 14th century that Richard Turnour, who was Prior in 1323, and the canons obtained a royal license to assign the priory and all its possessions to the Abbey of Saint Thomas in Dublin.

Information regarding the park, and waypoints for the main car park and the entry point from Laraghcon are available on cache page : GC4AHJK 01 - St.Catherine's. Nearest car park waypoints are on each page.

The caches are numbered to assist a cacher planning a route to nab them all. The route will start and end at the main car park.

They can of course be picked off individually.
