Geocache Description:

Here is a geocache hide that I finally found a spot for. Have been carrying this container around with me for almost a year now, but could never find an appropriate spot. Well, today is that day to let it loose into the wild - sometimes you just have to let things go!!

Cache is placed somewhere along Whiskey Lake Road just EAST of Marshall Army Airfield. Cache is roughly 1/2 mile EAST of intersection of Racetrack Road and Whiskey Lake Road. In order to get to cache location, exit I-70 at the Marshall Field Exit (Exit 301) and turn EAST onto Whiskey Lake Road. No need to pass through Henry Drive access gate.

You DO NOT need to enter Fort Riley for any reason to reach this cache.

You DO NOT need to cross over any fences in order to reach this cache location - if you do cross the Fort Riley perimeter fence along north side of Whiskey Lake Road then you may be visited by some very angry military police and will have to do some explaining!!

DO NOT attempt this cache from I-70 or KS Hwy 18 - if you do, you may have a very bad day!!

MAY be insect infested during warm weather months - nothing that I can do about that. Even insects need a place to live.

As for the cache container, well you are looking for something that resembles one of the characters from the "Toy Story" movies. Nothing fancy and simple as that!! It is up to you, the wiley geocaching adventurer, to go find him.

Was going to place this cache a few weeks ago, but my vehicle decided to slide off the face of the planet and into a ditch - you may still be able to see my ruts a little to the east of parking coordinates. After an hour of trying to get un-stuck, had to call AAA for a rescue.

Whiskey Lake Road is a well maintained hard-top road along the Fort Riley perimeter fence. It then turns into a well maintained gravel road where it intersects Racetrack Road. My vehicle went into a ditch because I parked just a bit too close to the edge of the road and I went off into oblivion (not the movie).

Park at the following coordinates which is probably the widest portion of the road and should keep you out of the way of traffic and away from where I slipped into said ditch. There are farmsteads further east along Whiskey Lake Road, so be careful!! Surprisingly, there is quite a bit of traffic for this road.

Also, I inadvertently placed this cache right beneath the flight pattern of the helicopters at Marshall Army Airfield, so you may get to see a few while searching for this cache. Wave to them as they pass overhead!!!

Cache is placed roughly in a 2.5 meter radius of coordinates. This is mainly due to the overhead cover that you WILL encounter. Also, your GPS may bounce around a bit here, so be prepared - you have been warned!!! I placed my GPS on the ground in a somewhat clear spot for 10 minutes to gain the best possible satellite readings so they may be just a bit off - or are they?!?!?

D/T ratings are determined for the D/T that you WILL encounter, + I raised them just a bit for safety considerations so plan accordingly.

Finally, pay attention to the attribute ratings!!
