Geocache Description:

Welcome to the campus of Marquette University, a Catholic and Jesuit university since 1881 and proud home of the Golden Eagles basketball team. You’re standing in front of the Haggerty Museum of Art, a free museum of visual art offering a variety of exhibits that change throughout the year.

Meet the neighborhood!

Head WEST on Clybourn Street and you’ll find Miss Katie’s Diner, a ‘50s-themed eatery that has become a favorite of visiting celebrities, including Rachel Ray, Michelle Obama and Hilary Clinton. Walk NORTH to the corner of Wells and 16th Streets to Sobelman’s Pub and Grill. To the EAST, you’ll see the towering steeples of the Church of the Gesu. To the SOUTH, cross under the freeway and you’ll enter the Menomonee Valley neighborhood.

Want to explore more? Right around the corner is the St. Joan of Arc Chapel built in France in the 14th century. It was dismantled and taken brick-by-brick to Marquette University’s campus. While you’re there, find and feel the stone that St. Joan of Arc prayed over and kissed. According to legend, it has forevermore stayed colder to the touch than all the rest.
