Английская набережная — красивая и тихая.
Английская набережная Невы находится на «левом берегу» реки между Сенатской площадью (на ней находится Медный всадник) и Ново-Адмиралтейским каналом.
Название набережной сложилось в XVIII веке, когда в этой части города стали селиться английские купцы. Также в разное время набережная носила названия Береговой Нижней, Исаакиевской, Галерной, Красного флота.
В самом начале набережной находится Сенатская площадь, на которой стоит памятник Петру Первому — Медный всадник. На эту площадь и, частично, на набережную выходят здания Сената и Синода, в которых в настоящее время располагаются Библиотека им. Бориса Ельцина и Конституционный суд Российской Федерации. Также на набережной располагаются резиденции дипломатов, офисы крупных компаний и жилые здания. Несмотря на это, набережная практически безлюдная.
Одно из наиболее известных зданий, находящихся на Английской набережной (как раз недалеко от этого тайника) — Дворец бракосочетаний, в котором ежедневно проводится несколько десятков свадебных церемоний.
С набережной открывается один из самых живописных видов на Неву. На противоположном берегу (на Университетской набережной) располагаются здание Академии художеств, Румянцевский Сад, Меньшиковский дворец и Кунсткамера.
В летнее время пересечь Неву можно не только по мосту, но и на водном автобусе («Аквабусе»).
Это обычный традиционный тайник.

English embankment is a beautiful and quiet place.
English embankment (“Angliyskaya naberezhnaya”) is located on the “left side” of the Neva river between Senat square (“Senatskaya ploschad’”) and the New Admiralty channel (“Novo-Admiralteyskiy kanal”).
The name of this embankment originates from XVIII century when English merchants began to settle in this part of the city. In different periods of time this embenkment was also named Lower Coastal (“Nizhyaya Beregovaya”), Isaac’s embankment (“Isaakievskaya”, after the name of the old St. Isaac church), Galley (“Galernaya”, after the name of a galley shipyard) and the Red Fleet embankment (“Krasnogo flota”, after the name of the soviet navy).
At the beginning of the embankment there is the Senate square, on which you can find the monument of Peter the Great (Peter I). This monument is usually called the Bronze Horseman. Old buildings of the Senate and the Sinode (supreme orthodox church institution in previous centuries), connected by the arch, face this square and partially the embankment. Now the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library and the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation are located in these buildings. Some diplomatic residences, corporation offices and residential buildings stand on the embankment too. But in spite of this, the embankment is very quiet and even solitary.
One of the most famous buildings located on this embankment is the Wedding palace, the most popular place for official wedding ceremonies in the city.
The embankment has a scenic view to the opposite side of the Neva river, called the University embankment (“Universitetskaya naberezhnaya”). Building of the Russian academy of arts, Rumyantsev garden (“Rumyantsevsky sad”), buildings of Menshikov’s palace and Kunstkamera (the first Russian museum) are situated there.
In summer time you can cross the Neva not only by bridges but also by a river bus (so called “Aquabus”).
