Geocache Description:

Clip lock box

BW1 – Dundridge is a clip lock box.

This is part of set of caches along one of my favourite walks from Bishops Waltham.  The total route is around 8 miles, mostly off road with a few country lanes along the way.  You can start anywhere in the village as there is plenty of parking or there is a layby at N 50° 57.158 W 001° 11.549 close to West Hoe Cemetery near the start of the walk.

Start by heading east along Jervis Court Lane for around 0.4 miles and then follow the footpath that heads across the fields on your left.  After 0.3 miles you will reach an intersection of paths (there is another cache nearby).  Head north up the hill to the top of Damson Hill.  At the road, turn left and round to the top of Damson Hill where there is a footpath on the right that takes you down through the forest.  This can be a bit muddy at times but you can bypass most of the puddles with ease.

Follow this path down through the forest and continue for around 0.6 miles where you want to veer right up the hill.  This becomes a bridleway and you continue to follow this up and round to Park Lane.  Cross the road into the field with the Motocross track and follow the path round the top of the field.  There are great views of the Meon Valley from the top of this hill.

Continue over the hill and back down into a small copse where the path meets the Wayfarer’s Walk.  Join this path going south (turning right).  After about 0.5 miles, the Wayfarer’s Walk turns 90 degrees left – at this point continue straight on underneath a very pretty bank until you come to a set of steps up to the road (77 I think!).  This is a steep climb so take your time and stop a few times to enjoy the view.

At the top of the steps, you will reach Mayhill Lane.  Turn west (right) and follow the road for about 0.5 miles until you reach Green Lane.  Follow Green Lane west for 0.8 miles until you reach Park Lane.  Go south (left) down the hill for 0.1 miles until you reach Jervis Court Lane.  Follow this lane west for around 0.9 miles until you are back at the start point.
