Geocache Description:

In April of 2011, Linda Downey, the business owner, was notified by the city of a “violation” because there are too many (6) flags flying in front of her store. Apparently, at the time, in Crystal River, you were only allowed to fly three patriotic flags, but no more. Linda Downey refused to remove the flags. She was flying flags of the Marines, Air Force, Navy and Army, along with a POW-MIA and U.S. flag.

Linda Downey has two sons in the Navy: Michael and Christopher and many service members and veterans as customers, flies six American and military flags as a "tribute" to those who have served in our military.  A local ordinance limited people to three flags, the city manager said officials aren’t anti-American or unpatriotic. They simply wanted to make sure flags are “done in a respectful manner and not in a way that is overly commercialized.” The American Legion stepped in and took over the case. There was a lot of community support also.

The City of Crystal River City Council voted to approve an amendment that would allow the flags to continue to be flown. Under the changes, one of each of the eight flags defined as U.S. Flags will be allowed on city property. Those flags are the American flag, the POW flag, the Florida State flag and flags for each of the five military branches.

Do not park across the street, the city has put up no parking signs. The shop is busy during lunch, many muggles around at that time. Owner knows cache is there.
Small trade items, suitable for all ages. First to find there is a ribbon it the cache.
Sadly when Crystal River flooded in two storms, the flood waters got info the business and destroyed everything inside. The family decided not to reopen the restaurant. :-(
