Geocache Description:

The cache is not located at the above-listed coordinates. To get to GZ, you need to engage in a little cross-cultural craft.

The Institute of Languages is the oldest, and one of the largest and most prestigious language centres in Australia.

For new arrivals to Australia, be they tourists or overseas students hoping to acquire new experience and knowledge, or immigrants looking for a new life, often their first 'port of call' is here at the Randwick Campus of the University of New South Wales. The institute conducts classes from general, through academic, to professional English. It is also the test centre for English language certified tests (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS); essential requirements for entrance into University studies or certain government positions. The institute also provides training in a wide range of other languages.

Given its prominence, on any day, the broad spectrum of the world’s races and cultures can be seen mingling here. Multicultural Australia is operating at the Randwick Campus!

To keep with the multicultural flavour of this campus, to obtain the coordinates for GZ, you will need to indulge in a little cross-cultural craft - origami, that is.

The coordinates for GZ are in the form S 33° 54.XXX’ E 151° 14.YYY’. To find the two three-digit minutes portion of the coordinates (XXX and YYY), do the following:

  • Print the origami paper template (click this link or visit the Image Gallery).
  • Make a square by cutting along the solid black lines (indicated by the scissors symbols).
  • Use the squared paper to make an origami water-bomb. (A quick web-search will return instructions on how to make a water-bomb. The page includes some guidelines – long diagonal dash lines for hill-folds and short vertical/horizontal dotted lines for valley-folds. For best outcome, fold precisely to these lines rather than just following the edges or corners of the paper.).
  • Once you’ve ‘blown up’ your water-bomb, you will have a cube with two rows of four characters (letters or numeric digits) on each of its six faces.
  • The Southing ordinate (XXX) for GZ is on the row containing an “S” in which the three digits add up to 15.
  • The Easting ordinate (YYY) for GZ is on the row containing an “E” in which the three digits add up to 7.

You are looking for a 200 ml Sistema container.
