Geocache Description:

A short walk to where Hesketh House once stood and the site of an older cache called "No More Patience"

Hesketh House once stood on this spot according to the 1908 map of the area. There are very few signs of the house remaining but if you look carefully you might spot one or two.
This cache is placed on the site of an older cache called "No More Patience" http://coord.info/GCH3FT I had hoped to un-archivce the cache but I think it is frowned upon by the powers that be.

Notable visitors to the previous cache site included Seasider - the first uk cacher to find 1000 caches and Billy Twigger (now sadly deceased) who visited the cache and left an inukshuk he had made from pebbles which I still have.

"no more patience" was a pun based on the fact that you can see the site of the old Billinge Hospital from the cache location. One part of the old hospital is still standing but most of the site has now been redeveloped for housing. One way of approaching this cache is from the main road via a narrow footpath af the side of the remaining hospital building.

A telecomms mast now stands where Hesketh House once was. I've been visiting this site since I was a young lad in the 70's. Little more was visible of the old house even then and I've never seen a photo of the original building. If anyone has one, please let me know!

The cache container is labelled with the old name of the cache which was originally placed nearly ten years ago.
