This is quite a challenging walk with three steep ascents and descents but we hope you'll agree that the spectacular scenery is worth the effort! The return route follows an easy ridge path, part of which may be muddy in the winter but most of the walk is mud free.
To find the coordinates of the cache you need to visit the following eight locations (in order) and collect some numbers at each. Note that you'll arrive at Stage 6 before Stage 4. This is for the return route. Stage 8 is nearest to the cache on the way back to the start of the walk.
Stage 1: Durdle Door
N 50° 37.336 W 002° 16.523
Follow the stone waymarker to White Nothe. How many miles is it? Answer = 2a/4
This stretch of the walk is the hardest but the most rewarding, with two steep climbs up Swyre Head and Bat's Head. Just before you climb the first hill you'll pass the amusingly named Scratchy Bottom. The opening scene of the 1967 film Far From the Madding Crowd was filmed in this valley.
Stage 2: Stone Waymarker
N 50° 37.456 W 002° 17.696
How many words are on the stone waymarker? Answer = b
If you prefer, you can avoid the final descent and ascent by taking a gentler inland route here. Go through the gate and aim for the fence ahead, then follow the fence line west to rejoin the coast path at Stage 3.
Stage 3: Beacon
N 50° 37.648 W 002° 18.577
Excluding the plinth how many faces does the beacon have? Check the top carefully! You may find it easier to see from a distance. Answer = c
From here continue to Stage 4, and don't worry that you'll pass Stage 6 on the way. This is for the return route.

How many fish are depicted on the metal gate? Answer = d
