Geocache Description:

I-275 Bike Trail - Speedwell cache is on the I-275 Bike Trail between Hines Drive and Lake Pointe Soccer Park. There is a parking lot at Hines Drive or at Lake Pointe Soccer Park. You can also view an online trail map on Google Maps. It includes markers for official access points to the trail.

This is one of a set of six caches to extend this section back towards Lake Pointe Soccer Park off Haggerty Road. This section picks up near the Plymouth Township Senior Center. As with the other sections, I am naming them after bicycle manufacturers. This cache is named after Speedwell Bicycles.Speedwell was manufactured by the Australian firm Bennett & Wood starting in 1882. Eventually Bennett & Wood began to manufacture motorcycles and then automobiles. As individuals, both Bennett and Wood were accomplished bicycle racers.

This is intended to be a Ride & Grab cache. There is also an offical access path nearby. The cache container is a small camo painted bison tube. You will need a log extractor. Please bring your own pencil or pen.

I have found that a quick and simple log extraction tool can be made from a small paperclip. Straighten one end out. Grab just a small portion (maybe 1/32 of an inch or 1 millimeter) with a long-nose or needle-nose pliers then bend it at a right angle. I have attached one to the cache you can use. Please leave it for the next person.
