Geocache Description:

On April 14, 2012, the Titanic collided with an iceburg and sank early the next morning. Twelve people were traveling to Akron, nine who survived. Many of these people are buried in Akron, in Mount Peace Cemetery and Glendale Cemetery. This cache will take you to their resting places. These people's names are listed at the bottom of the page.

This cache is six stages long. The coordinates listed are not the starting coordinates! Decode the coordinates below to start searching.

Stage 1 is located at N41 (MTKG YOCT. LTCTF FOFT TOCT) W81 (ZIKTT GFT. FOFT MTKG YGXK).
N41 46 W50 24 is where the Titanic sank. Coded like the coordinates above, it becomes N41 [YGXK LOB] W50 [ZVG YGXK.

When you arrive at the mausoleum area, find a sign that addresses the owners of the mausoleums. On that sign, there is a date. Add the numbers in the date and use that sum to complete the equations.
(month number+ day number+ year number) – 1169 = A B C

(month number+ day number+ year number) – 1117 = D E F

Plug A B C and D E F into the coordinates below to locate stage 2.

Stage 2 is at the grave of Joan Wells, at (N41 05.ABC W081 31.DEF). Her family is buried here as well. Facing the side that says, “In memory of Joan”, look to the right and locate the brick red gravestones of Vernon S. Phillips and Lilla K. Phillips. To find the coordinates of the next stage, complete the equations:
Birth year of Vernon Phillips - 1769= H I J

Year of death of Lilla Phillips - 1433= K L M

Plug H I J and K L M into the coordinates below to locate stage 3.

Stage 3 is at the entrance to Glendale Cemetery, at (N41 05.HIJ W081 31.KLM). A house serves as the Glendale Cemetery office. The building has a house number. Find the number and plug it into the following:

House number - 73 = N O P

House number + 645 = Q R S

Plug N O P and Q R S into the coordinates below to locate stage 4.

Stage 4 is at the grave of Elizabeth Hocking, at (N41 05.NOP W081 31.QRS). Unfortunately, her life in Akron was cut short as she suffered an unimaginable death. Right next to Elizabeth Hocking is another Elizabeth, Elizabeth Atherton. Use the dates on her gravestone to complete the equations.

Birth year of Elizabeth Atherton - 1800 = T U V

Death year of Elizabeth Atherton - 1087 = W X Y

Plug T U V and W X Y into the coordinates below to locate stage 5.

Stage 5 is at the grave of Ellen Needs Wilkes, at (N41 05.TUV W081 31.WXY). Her gravestone also reads "Titanic survivor". As you face the gravestone of Ellen Wilkes, look to the left and find the gravestone of the Olsons. Use the dates on the Olsons' gravestone to complete the following equations:

Year of Emily Olson's birth+ year of Emily Olson's death - 2883= a b c

Year of Earl Olson's birth + year of Earl Olson's death - 3105= d e f

Plug a b c and d e f into the coordinates below to locate stage 6 - the final stage.

Stage 6 is the "Titanic's treasure", at (N41 04.abc W081 31.def). Please replace the cache standing up. Happy caching!
