Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a pull out off of Strawberry Road.  There is a finger of the Elkhorn Slough that is visible from this spot.  There can be many herons and egrets hunting here.

Great Egrets and their cousins the Great Blue Heron are two of my favorite birds to watch.  They can be seen hunting in salt or fresh water along the wetlands, streams, ponds, and tidal flats of coastal area.  They hunt by standing still or walking slowly through the water.  They are very patient and wait for their prey to come within range.  They mainly eat fish but will also hunt for amphibians, reptiles, mice and any other small animal.
