Geocache Description:

Enjoy a short bush walk below the main area of Yatton Park, with glimpses of the Waimapu Estuary through the trees.

Bush walk

This is one of several caches in the various areas of Yatton Park; all areas worth exploring.

Situated on Fraser St between Harrier St and Camellia Place, the park is partially accessible to vehicles and is open 8am - 8pm Spring and Summer during daylight saving hours and 8am - 5pm in Autumn and Winter.

Known by Tangata Whenua as Te Tutarawananga a Tamatea-arikinui, Yatton Park was once the location of a Pa site to which Nga Te Ahi, Ngati Ruahine and Ngai Tamarawaho have connections.

There are information signs around the park for those who want to know more about the park’s history.

There are some steep steps in places along this bush walk, and the track is likely to be slippery when wet, so please exercise caution.

September 2024: The replacement cache is a black-taped screwtop container, only containing a log book, so please bring your own pen. There is plenty of room for swappable items and trackables. Please replace the cache as found and cover well.

Feedback welcome but no spoilers please.
