A series of 18 caches on Bridleways and Byway beginning in the hamlet of Littleton Drew. In addition, there is a Church Micro. No caches have been placed in or on any of the dry stone walls you will see en route.
From the village the Bridleway goes towards the neighbouring village of Grittleton. You are now walking along part of the Roman Road called the Fosse Way.
The Fosse Way is of Roman origin. Fosse being the Latin word for ditch.

The Fosse Way
Just about 2000 years ago, in this area, the Roman Army used this track as a direct route from Exeter in the South to Lincoln in the North, some 182 miles. The Fosse Way was the route which linked Exeter (Isca Dumnoniorum) to Lincoln (Lindum Colonia) in Lincolnshire, via Ilchester (Lindinis), Bath (Aquae Sulis), Cirencester (Corinium) and Leicester (Ratae Corieltauvorum).

For further information on the Fosse Way click on this link

Although Roman roads are allegedly straight, it's at this point in the road that you are able to see one of the kinks in the straightness. Be aware that this is a Byway and, in Wiltshire, that means it's accessible to off-roaders.
