Toshokan Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Kanaka in da desert: Hi folks. Sadly, and sometime between late June and mid-July, somebody walked off (again, for the 3rd time) with the cache container.
Therefore, I will archive this cache and when I can fully confirm that the cache is no longer, I will shut this show down.
It was fun folks. Sadly, and one-by-one, all of my cache containers at several cache sites were continuously stolen or vandalized. In addition, cache finders were taking photos of the cache containers and the site, spoiling the fun, and revealing too much information, for those that would have preferred a full experience.
No big deal. It is what it is and the behaviors of an indifferent and irresponsible few will not taint all the good things that folks are doing. Good people doing good things are still the majority.
Don't be discouraged. Keep on caching and build a few caches of your own as well.
I will update this site as soon as I can. In the meantime, enjoy, love life, and cache on!

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Easy park-and-grab emplaced in flat, open, and hard packed dirt/rocky terrain a few feet from an asphalt parking lot that is open and accessible at all hours daily.

Toshokan (toe-show-khan). Common Japanese for library. Our multi-ethnic family likes to geocache, read, and dislikes trash. This cache consists of a small container that is well-blended with the immediate cache site yet was emplaced just a short distance from the parking lot at the Dorris Van Doren Public Library on the Westside of El Paso. We wanted to honor Dorris Van Doren, a wonderful woman and active advocate for the funding and construction of libraries in El Paso, create an easy cache to encourage new geocachers, facilitate some easy trash removal, and then motivate folks to utilize this wonderful public library.

Additional Hints (Decrypt)

Ynfg ebj 15 sebz yrsg. [Mobility assistance folks: recommend at least one helper and you just need to negotiate a single concrete curb that serparates the parking lot from the cache site. Muggles: Lots of muggles on weekday afternoons, evenings, and on Saturdays. Hardly anyone around on Sundays, except for geocachers, some runners and hikers, and book drop users.]
