About two years ago, I started caching with smomofo, and therefore regularly driving over the Kootenay Pass between Nelson and Creston. I've wanted to put a cache out to commemorate this regular trek ever since.
This is a drive-up cache in a pullout accessed from the Eastbound direction. It looks down on Summit Creek, which winds along the highway. Apparently, according to the sign, bull trout are released here, and for part of the year fishing is permitted.
You do not need to go down to the creek to access the cache. At times the creek can get quite high, so please stay away from it when it is. If you do choose to go down, it is just a short slope to get there. This cache is not winter accessible, since the pullout becomes one huge pile of plowed snow.
