St. John, a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, was established in 1849. The current stately Church building dates back to 1879. It was built on one of the highest points in Chester, Illinois. From the front of the Church, north toward the alley, you will find an elevation marker for 668 ft. above sea level. The location of the Church and the height of the steeple, also makes it a benchmark for the area. Services are conducted on Saturday at 6:30 PM and Sunday at 7:45 & 10:00 AM. It would probably not be a good idea to hunt for the cache around those times.
The congregation also operates a school. The current school building was constructed in 1913. The children have a Chapel service, during the school year, in the Church from 8-9 AM on Wednesday mornings. That would also be a good time to avoid looking for the cache.
The cache container is a small container. BYOP It is easy to get to. Please return it to the EXACT location that you found it. Thanks.
