Geocache Description:

The Lower Hudson Geocachers "Picnic in Peekskill" moves a little bit south this year!

Much like our February Diner event, this year's LoHud picnic will NOT be in Peekskill!  Due to a conflict with the park's schedule, we are moving to CROTON POINT PARK for this year's festivities!

"Croton Point Park is a 508-acre park situated on a peninsula on the east shore of the Hudson River. This park offers year-round events and activities and has facilities for camping, hiking and swimming.

The park, rich in natural and human history, is also the site of historic wine cellars that are thought of be the oldest in New York State and the Croton Point Nature Center."  (From Westchester Parks)

We have reserved Picnic Area 3 for the whole day.   We'll get lunch underway at around noon-ish.  (Well, we haven't started right on time yet.... why fight it?)  But come early and stay late for some great caching in Croton Point Park!

Once again, Walkin' Ed has graciously agreed to coordinate the "what's being brought" list.  So, let him know what you can bring.  We'll need the usual - food, drink, condiments, paper supplies.

If you own and can bring a picnic/popup canopy, please contact Larra-three. The picnic space is open air, and we'd like to have a few of these in case of inclement weather.

After lunch, we will be holding some games for Adults as well as for the Kids.  I hope some of you will join in!  AND, of course, Croton Point has some very nice caches to find!  Perhaps there will be some new ones too.... who can say?

There is a parking fee of $10/vehicle, if you do not have a Westchester County Park pass. However, I will be issuing copies of our permit (as I did last year). This will reduce the parking fee to $5/vehicle.

***Please Note: Although dogs are allowed at  Croton Point Park , they MUST be leashed, especially in the picnic areas. Please plan accordingly!

There are tent and RV camping spots available for the weekend, but if you plan to try and stay over, please book early.  This park does fill up!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in July!
